WELCOME TO BENNINGTON, SNOCROSS!

This upcoming weekend, weather permitting, we have the great privilege to host race number 5 for the East Coast Snocross organization. For the past three weeks now, the organizers have been up on Willow Park blowing snow out of snowmaking machines at a tremendous amount. Weather be darned, they are committed to providing the Bennington community with a spectacle! Snocross (also snowcross) is a racing sport involving racing specialized high performance snowmobiles on natural or artificially-made tracks consisting of tight turns, banked corners, steep jumps and obstacles.

Riders race at speed of up to 60 miles per hour. Saturday and Sunday, February 27-28, spectator gates open at 10am both days and food, beverage, and apparel vendors will be on site as well as the great race! The cost to get into the event is $12 a day and $20 for the whole weekend. Children 7 and under are free. Southside Sales & Service will have the Polaris Demo Trailer On-Site both days for you to try out a new Polaris Snowmobile.

Trail Class Racers ages 18 and older come out and challenge your buddies; moms and dads get your kids out and race the 120cc class, ages 4-10. For more information about racing in an event, being a sponsor for the event, renting a 120cc snowmobile for event, go to eastcoastsnocross.com or call 1-844-327- 7669. What’s exciting about this event, and why the Chamber is a supporter of it, is it’s unlike anything that Bennington has seen in the recent past.

We are at a great corner of the state where snowmobiling and snow sports are popular; this is a great opportunity for Bennington to showcase its great love of the outdoors and recreation. So I encourage all of you, put on some warm clothes and join us as we head up to Willow Park to see some great outdoor activity. Snocross organizers, vendors, racers and supporters, we welcome you to Bennington, Vermont – where Vermont begins!
