elcome to Bennington! A primary gateway to Vermont, Bennington is the third largest community in the State. Nestled between two beautiful mountain ranges, the Taconics on the west and the Green Mountains
on the east, the beautiful Walloomsac River flows through the community. The Town is strategically located in the southwestern portion of Bennington County, directly adjacent to New York State and only 14 miles away from Massachusetts.
Bennington serves as the urban, commercial and industrial center for Bennington County. The county encompases 575 square miles and nearly 35,000 residents. In fact, 90,000 people reside within a radius of 25 miles in this tri-state region. Boston is 140 miles, New York City is 185 miles, and Montreal is only 225 miles. Being less than 40 miles from Albany (and I-87) on an improved secondary route, and being a similar distance to I-91 in Brattleboro to the east, Bennington is close to existing markets and major commercial highways of commerce. The Massachusetts Turnpike is only an hour to the south. These short distances bring the Town close enough to major markets to afford opportunities and competitiveness, yet keep it just far enough removed from metropolitan problems to ensure small town hospitality and security.
