SELECT BOARD MINUTES May 27, 2008 Present: Sharyn Brush, Jason Morrissey, John Zink, Joe Krawczyk, Matt maroney, Chris Oldham and Lodie Colvin. Also present: Stuart Hurd, Town Manager. The meeting was called to order at 5:02 pm. The minutes of the May 12, 2008 meeting were approved as corrected. "Earth Day" should have been "Green Up Day". Warrants were circulated for signatures. A proclamation on the Click It or Ticket program was adopted by unanimous vote after waiving the reading. In other business, the Board discussed the southern leg of the bypass. L. Colvin had prepared a letter to Secretary Lunderville reiterating the Board's strong support of this project. The recent BCRC Transportation Advisory Committee's (TAC) ranking was contrary to the Board's position. J. Krawczyk wanted to include language supporting the Welcome Center as located in the clover leaf. There has recently been some discussion of locating it elsewhere to minimize cost. J. Morrissey wanted to insure that the letter noted the importance of this project to the County as a whole. He felt copies should be sent to each select board and that they be encouraged to write support letters as well. He asked that copies be sent to the Chairs of the House and Senate Transportation Committees as well. On a motion by J. Krawczyk, seconded by J. Morrissey, the Board voted unanimously to amend the letter as discussed and have it circulated for each members signature. It will be sent when signed. L. Colvin asked if the Board was leaning towards donating funds to the Bennington Cultural and Arts Council. By consensus the Board indicated that the Council should petition for funds as others must. The Manager will notify Mr. Fels. L. Colvin noted that SVC students are looking for internships. She also suggested that the Town purchase some of the Veteran's Reserved Parking signs. The Board directed the Manager to purchase and install five signs at $20 each. There was no other business. The meeting adjourned at 6:03 pm. Respectfully submitted, Stuart A. Hurd
