                     Planning Commission
                           MINUTES
                         May 16, 2002
                          5:00 p.m.
                     Town Office Building
         205 South Street, Bennington, Vermont 05201
                      Members Present:    Barry Horst - Chair, Bob Burgess - Clerk, Michael McDonough, 
                 Charles Copp, Sharon Yorke
                 Also Present:  Dan Monks - Zoning Administrator, Tim Upton - CVPS representative and                  other representatives from CVPS./VELCO        
  The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m.
  Meeting Schedule
            The Planning Commission scheduled its next meeting for May 22, 2002 at 5:00 p.m.  
  Electric Transmission Line Relocation - Bennington New Highway - Chapel Road Area   - Meeting with VELCO and CVPS
            CVPS/VELCO presented their proposal to relocate power lines in the Chapel Road        area to accommodate the Eastern leg of the New Highway.  CVPS/VELCO intends to        submit an application for a Certificate of Pubic Good to the Public Service Board in        the near future.
            The Select Board recently expressed concerns regarding the proposal.
            The Planning Commission agreed that the Select Board and Planning Commission        should have a joint meeting to discuss the proposal.
            Bob Burgess moved and Sharon Yorke seconded that the Planing Commission not        comment on the proposal at this time, but instead comment after further review and        discussion.
       The motion passed unanimously.
  Zoning Bylaw Revision Project - Review of Proposed Changes to Article 3
            The Planning Commission discussed proposed changes to Article 3
  Election of Officers
       Barry Horst was unanimously elected Chair
       Bob Burgess was unanimously elected Clerk.
  The meeting was adjourned.
