                           MINUTES
                       January 23, 2002

                 Also Present:  Dan Monks, Zoning Administrator                            
                 Keith Martin, Citizen

  The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
  Minutes:
            Bob Burgess moved to accept the minutes as printed.
       
       Mike Lochner seconded the motion.
       The motion passed unanimously.
  Airport Runway Extension 
            The Planning Commission agreed that the Public Forum regarding the Airport        runway extension proposal will be held on February 27, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at        the Bennington Firehouse.
            The Planning Commission also agreed to discuss the specific format of the        forum at its next meeting, but preliminarily determined that the Agency of        Transportation should begin the forum with a concise presentation regarding        the proposal.
            The Planning Commission felt that written questions for the Agency of        Transportation should be solicited ahead of the forum and that certain        community organizations should be contacted directly.  The Planning        Commission developed a list of organizations that should be contacted directly.
  Benmont Avenue/Northside Drive Intersection
            The Planning Commission discussed the Agency of Transportation's proposals        for reconstruction on the Benmont Avenue/Northside Drive Intersection.
            See attached memorandum for outcome of discussion.
  Zoning Bylaw Revision Project
            The Planning Commission discussed Article III, Planned Commercial Industrial        District, of the proposed Zoning Bylaw revision.
            Keith Martin expressed concerns regarding gasoline retailers associated with        big box retail stores.  He also expressed support for a limit on the size of big        box retail stores.
            
  The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
