Town of Bennington Planning Commission MINUTES August 8, 2001 5:00 p.m. Town Office Building 205 South Street, Bennington, Vermont 05201 Members Present: Barry Horst - Chair, Bob Burgess - Clerk, Michael McDonough, Michael Lochner, Sharon Yorke Also Present: Dan Monks, Zoning Administrator, William Colvin, Economic and Community Development Director The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. Minutes of July 11, 2001 - Bob Burgess moved to accept minutes as presented Mike McDonough seconded the motion All voted in favor except Mike Lochner who abstained Minutes of July 23, 2001 - Sharon Yorke moved to accept minutes as presented Bob Burgess seconded the motion All voted in favor except Mike Lochner who abstained Minutes of July 25, 2001 - Bob Burgess moved to accept minutes as presented Mike McDonough seconded the motion All voted in favor except Mike Lochner who abstained Findings of Planning Commission, VEDA Form No. 4A, Global Z Bill Colvin explained Global Z's desire to build a 5000 sq.ft. building in the Shields Drive Industrial Park to house its information based business. Approximately 20-30 people would be employed at the site. Global Z is seeking VEDA financing. The attached Findings of the Planning Commission are required in order to apply for such financing. The Planning Commission considered possible negative traffic impacts, but found that the company's shift hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. were different from other employers in the industrial park and the proposed Middle School and would mitigate any negative traffic impact. Bob Burgess moved to approve the attached findings Mike McDonough seconded the motion The motion passed unanimously Zoning Bylaw Revision Project - Public Forums - Notification and Advertising - The Planning Commission developed a preliminary list of those individuals, companies, organizations and media outlets that should be notified regarding the upcoming Public Forums. Barry Horst and the Zoning Administrator will finalize the list and the form of the notice. The Zoning Administrator's office will send out the notices. Technical Review Summary - The Planning Commission continued its discussion of the Technical Review. Regular Meeting Time - Bob Burgess moved that the Planning Commission's regular meeting shall be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Office Conference Room. Sharon Yorke seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Next Meeting - The Planning Commission set its next Zoning Bylaw work session for August 16, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. of the Town Office Conference Room. Other Business - The Planning Commission discussed the Transportation Advisory Committee opening. The Planning Commission, by consensus, agreed that the DRB should appoint someone to the TAC and that the appointee should report regularly to the Planning Commission.
