                           MINUTES
                               
                        March 14, 2001

                      Members Present:    Don Hicks - Chair, Bob Burgess - Clerk,  Barry Horst,
                 Michael McDonough, Sharon Yorke
  
                      Also Present:       Dan Monks, Zoning Administrator
                 
  The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
  
  Minutes of February 14, 2001
  
            Mike McDonough expressed concern that the motion attributed to him regarding the
       Chris Denio ACT 250 hearing was inaccurate.  The Commission agreed that his
       original motion was modified by subsequent discussion.
  
            Bob Burgess moved that the minutes be accepted as written.
            
       Barry Horst seconded the motion.
  
  The motion passed unanimously.
  
  Zoning Bylaw Revision Project
  
            The Zoning Administrator reported that a contract had been sent to Burnt Rock, Inc.
       regarding the Bylaw Revision Project. 
  
            The Commission discussed the scheduling of the "kickoff" meeting with the consultant
       and the Town Tour.
  
            It was agreed that the Zoning Administrator should try to schedule the  "kickoff"
       meeting and Town Tour for the afternoon of Wednesday, April 11 with a dinner
       meeting to follow that evening.
  
            The Zoning Administrator will try to arrange for the use of a van and will work on a
       plan for the Tour of the Town.
  
            The Zoning Administrator will also work on a preliminary review of the Bylaw that
       highlights some of the issues the consultant may be asked to address.
  
  
            The Planning Commission then discussed current local planning issues including the
       imminent closure of Grand Union, the Zoning Administrator's possible testimony
       before the Senate Judiciary Committee re: the Environmental Court, and the proposed
       Welcome Center.
  
            With regard to the Grand Union closure the Planning Commission members agreed
       that the Chair should be a signatory to a letter prepared by the Community
       Development Director expressing the Town's desire to continue the use of the Grand
       Union building as a full service grocery store.
  
  
  The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30 p.m.
