DRB - No agenda items. There was concern in regard to the demolition of a Barn on Main Street that Peter Cross owns. Other owners in town are trying to save barns while he is demolishing this for low income apartments. HPC did review the plans, however Scott will check with Dan in regard to the status of this permit. It was noted that the Baptist Church on Main Street has replaced windows without coming to HPC or the DRB. Scott will follow up with Dan Monks. Anne questioned whether or not the alley way that has been boarded up between Jays Cards & Gifts and the Pennysaver is owned by the Town. Scott will check with Dan. 3. CLG Grant Application Discussion - The CLG application was sent out, we expect to hear back within a month of the CLG Award Announcements. HPC appreciated the work Meg did on the application. HPC received the first draft recommendation from Paula Sagerman, HPC members should review the draft and be ready for discussion at the next HPC meeting. 4. Community Meeting Updates - There were no updates. There was some concern as to what the purpose of having HPC members attend the various meetings, what are HPC goals and purpose? It seems as though there needs to be some continuity, HPC is asked to comment on projects with not having enough of the information needed. 5. Preserve America Grant/GIS Mapping - Meg indicated that she had solicited money from local sponsors to contribute matching grant money of $1,000. She received the following - Town of Bennington-$250, BBC-$250, Preservation Trust of Vermont- $500. 6. Other Preservation Issues - Scott noted that Leanne Tingay will be replacing Joss Besse in the Vermont Downtown Program. They will be visiting Bennington on Wednesday, September 19, they will be meeting with Dan and others on the Growth Center application. The question came up...does HPC care if the State Offices are relocated in the downtown? Scott mentioned that Stuart is on the task force team along with Dan Monks representing the Town. Scott will check with Dan Monks to see if a member from HPC would be useful on the task force team. Next Meeting Dates September 26, 2007 - 2:30 p.m. October 10, 2007 - 2:30 p.m. Submitted, Scott M.
