BENNINGTON HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Town Office Conference Room Wednesday, October 12, 2005 MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: John Dostal, Meg Campbell, Victor Rolando and Scott Murphy. MEMBERS EXCUSED: Anne Bugbee, Tordis Ilg Isselhardt and Sharon Yorke. 1. Minutes of September 28, 2005 Rolando moved and Campbell seconded the minutes of September 28, 2005 be approved with the following amendment. 2. "Time and Place in Bennington" It was suggested to include the "Hartgen Study" as a resource. 2. DRB Greenberg/Galipeau Bennington Butcher Shop - 239 Main Street. HPC approved the signage presented, subject to the square footage that is required. Unanimous. Saccio - 201 Union Street HPC approved the enclosed spiral staircase as presented. Unanimous. Shaffe/CTX Mortgage - 477 Main Street. HPC approved the signage as presented. Unanimous. 3. Archaeology Presentation Rolando did a very thorough archaeology presentation in regard to the Lemieux Brickyard off Gore Road. Rolando will update members that were not present and bring back comments to HPC for further discussion. 4. Other Preservation Issues Campbell will come back with a revised list of priorities for the next HPC meeting. Campbell will obtain any comments from Nancy Boone on the "Time and Place in Bennington" handbook. Murphy received a letter from EBI consulting requesting HPC review plans for a proposed telecommunications facility at 209 South Street. HPC had the following questions: How does the height compare to what the current antenna height is now? How tall is the existing antenna? What kind or type of transmission will it be used for? Have they explored any alternative locations in Bennington? Murphy will contact EPI with the above mentioned questions. Murphy will invite Linda Wichlac, Executive Director of BPI to a future HPC meeting to discuss the current project they are working on.
