BENNINGTON HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Town Office Conference Room Wednesday, July 27, 2005 MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: Anne Bugbee, Meg Campbell, John Dostal, Tordis Ilg Isselhardt, David Aldrich, and Scott Murphy. ALSO PRESENT: Vic Rolando ABSENT: Sharon Yorke 1. DRB HPC reviewed the following three sign permit applications. Amy Cannistraci, Verve - 415 Main Street The HPC approved the "Verve" sign application for 415 Main Street. Please note - HPC would prefer to have a photo of the building to see sign in relation to building. Bugbee motioned and Campbell seconded. Isselhardt abstained. Kim Post, Junque - 514 Main Street The HPC approved the "Junque" sign application for 415 Main Street. Campbell motioned and Bugbee seconded. Unanimous. Heather Clark, Heather's Boutique - 103 South Street The HPC could not approve "Heather's Boutique" sign application as presented for 103 South Street for the lack of the following information • accurate color sample for lettering • current photo of building showing windows and brackets for overhead sign • accurate representation of font and font size of lettering Bugbee moved and Dostal seconded not to accept the sign application as presented. Unanimous. Murphy will check with the Permitting & Zoning Administrator to see if HPC can add some information to the sign permit application, either a separate sheet of information that is requested by HPC or on the back of the existing sign permit application. Murphy will also check with Permitting & Zoning Administrator to see if HPC has any comment on Historic Roofs on buildings. DRB would like HPC to educate them on siding, perhaps a presentation in September would work. Tordis will obtain information from various sources regarding siding. Meg will contact Chris Cochran from Division in hopes he can be here for the presentation. 2. Other Preservation Issues Al Ray questioned whether or not there were funds available to help renovate the Elks Carriage House. Meg will contact him.
