BENNINGTON HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Town Office Conference Room Wednesday, March 30, 2005 MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT:Anne Bugbee, Tordis Ilg Isselhardt, Meg Campbell, Sharon Yorke, David Aldrich, John Dostal, and Bill Colvin. ALSO PRESENT: Mike McDonough, Architect, and Milt Surdam 1. Minutes of February 9, 2005 Minutes of February 23, 2005 were approved as presented. Passed unanimously. 2. DRB - Milt and Patricia Surdam - 508 Main Street Following a presentation on the proposed three-story infill building by Michael McDonough and Milt Surdam, Dostal moved and Aldrich seconded that "the project be approved as presented". Passed 7-0. Citizens Bank - 320 Main Street Isselhardt moved and Bugbee seconded that "the new signs be approved as presented". Passed 7-0. Applejack Development - 113 Depot Street Following a discussion regarding the former H.M. Tuttle property, Yorke moved and Dostal seconded that "given the structures located at 113 Depot Street are noted in the Bennington Sties and Structures Survey as "non-contributing due to significant alterations" the HPC approves the demolition and site restoration plan, as presented". Passed 7-0. Dostal requested the owner be made aware of possible archeological resources on site. 3. 2005 Historic Preservation Conference Campbell distributed the Historic Preservation Conference postcard. Registration for the conference will be located at Bennington Station . More details to follow at later date. 4. Other Preservation Issues Isselhardt noted that Jim Canavan is the new RAHC Director, she suggested he be invited to attend an HPC meeting. There will be a House History workshop at the Bennington Museum on May 14, 2005. When complete, it was suggested that we could provide "Time & Place" handbook to the real estate offices in town.
