BENNINGTON HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Town Office Conference Room Wednesday, February 9, 2005 MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: Anne Bugbee, Tordis Ilg Isselhardt, Meg Campbell, Sharon Yorke, David Aldrich, John Dostal, and Bill Colvin.. Also Present: Chris Browning, BMA, and Matt Freeman 1. Minutes of January 26, 2005 Minutes of January 26, 2005 were approved as presented. Passed unanimously. 2. DRB - At its meeting of February 9, 2005, the Bennington Historic Preservation Commission reviewed two projects within the Downtown Bennington Design Review District. The relevant motions pertaining to each project are outlined below. • Green Mountain Senior Living, LLC. - (640 Main Street) Chris Browning of BMA and Matt Freeman presented the plans for redevelopment of the former Middle School. Bugbee made a motion to approve the plans as presented, Isselhardt seconded. Passed unanimously. • Tropical Rayz - (418 Main Street) Campbell made a motion to approve the sign permit as presented, Yorke seconded. Passed unanimously. 3. 2004 CLG Project Antognioni distributed a revised map of "The Historic Central Bennington Design Review District". 4. 2005 CLG Projects The Town of Bennington was awarded both 2005 Grants they applied for: • 1st project will finalize the update of Time & Place: A Handbook for the Central Bennington Historic District, by printing the design guidebook with new photographs and details on new materials and procedures. • 2nd project will assist with the marketing of the 2005 Vermont Historic Preservation Conference to be held in Bennington in May. Specifically, the money will be used for the printing and mailing of the postcards announcing the conference. 5. 2005 Historic Preservation Conference Campbell will report at next meeting. 6. Other Preservation Issues The meeting of January 26, 2005 Yorke distributed the "Natural, Scenic, and Historic Resources" portion of the "Town Plan" which the Planning Commission is updating. Commission members read through and made comments, Yorke will share them with the Planning Commission. Campbell created a letter to Historic Downtown Property owners along with updating the Plaque Program order form. Antognioni will mail the letter and form to new property owners.
