BENNINGTON HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Town Office Conference Room Wednesday, April 14, 2004 - 3:00 p.m. MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: Sharon Yorke, Meg Campbell, David Aldrich, Anne Bugbee, John Dostal, Tordis Ilg Isselhardt, Victor Rolando, and William B. Colvin. 1. Minutes of March 24, 2004 Rolando moved, Dostal seconded that Minutes of March 24, 2004 be approved as presented. Seven in favor, one abstention (Colvin). 2. DRB Update There were no projects to review. The Planning Commission has requested that HPC survey the properties on Benmont Avenue north of Leonard Street to identify historic properties/characteristics. Campbell has already photographed a number of these properties. Subcommittee of Campbell, Isselhardt, Yorke, Rolando, and Bugbee to draft report including photos. Will present to Planning Commission by 5/5/04. 2. HPC Job Descriptions Subcommittee of Yorke, Aldrich, and Colvin formed to draft job description for Commissioners - will be presented to HPC at future meeting. 4. Time & Place - Suggestions for consultant scope-of-work Draft RFP reviewed. Colvin will incorporate suggestions into new draft for 4/28/04 meeting. 5. At Risk Sites and Structures Yorke reviewed work done by Rolando and her on organizing the binder - new Volume 8 of Bennington Sites and Structures Survey. Campbell suggested this may be opportunity to revitalize the Bennington Regional Preservation Trust (BRPT) and/or access assessment funds available from the Vermont Preservation Trust. She will discuss with Paul Bruhn. 6. HPC Priorities Matrix Priorities reviewed. HPC on track for most activities listed. 7. Other Preservation Issues VanNostrand House - Campbell requested HPC have opportunity to tour the property before issuing opinion on request to burn. She will coordinate with Dan Monks. It was noted that Bennington Project Independence will be acquiring the historic house and barn on Harwood Hill. Rolando has donated his research library to the Bennington Museum. The Vermont Preservation Conference will be held in Bellows Falls on May 21, 2004. Commissioners wishing to attend should notify Colvin by 4/28/04 meeting.
