Tomorrow, December 17th is the Chamber of Commerce Holiday Open House from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Welcome Center up off Route 279 here in Bennington. We hope all our Members and Friends will stop in and see the promotional opportunities this facility offers to organizations, tourism, and businesses. From the rotating monthly display cases, annual poster spaces, brochure racks, and the art wall there are amazing ways to be seen by all those who come through our Gateway to Vermont State Welcome Center. While you are with us, enjoy refreshments and the beautiful building. This is a showcase for your community and region as well as for the state of Vermont. The Welcome Center is open 365 days a year from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the phone number id 802-447-2456.

Speaking of the Mount Anthony Country Club, one of our community’s favorite groups, Funk in the Trunk will be entertaining there on New Years Eve. From 8 p.m. to 1 a,m, you can join the party for $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Please remember your favorite charities this holiday season when you are thinking of gifts. Don’t wait to be contacted by a random national solicitation on the phone or by mail: Give locally. From the Homeless Shelter, Library, Museums, Educational, Children’s Organizations, Free Clinic, Veterans Groups, Nature Groups, Arts, Interfaith Council, and any other worthy activity you care about and support. It can make a real difference here in our community. Thank you.

The Breakfast for past Winners of the D. Ed Moore and Presidents’ Award will be on December 20th at Jensens at 8 a.m. Past Winners should come with some Nominees in mind. I moved the date to fit my schedule and sent the invitation letters last week. Please let me know if you can make the breakfast so I can have the table(s) set up in advance. This is a great group. Both the D. Ed Moore and Presidents’ Award Winners are people who have given outstanding service to the Bennington Community and to further the goals of the Chamber of Commerce. Who better to select the recipients who will be presented at the coming Annual Dinner Meeting?

The Bennington Tennis Center on Lover’s Lane in Bennington is hosting an event to help support the VT/NH Casting For Recovery organization. The Hospitality Nomination Ballots are coming in to the office. I encourage all members to open the Chamber Letter which was mailed to our entire membership on December 6th.
If you didn’t receive your news letter let us know because if your address has changed we need to update our records. We will also be happy to fax or email the ballot to you.

The NorShaft Lions Club Tree sales have been very brisk. My best guess is that by this morning there are none left. I hope you all found your perfect tree wherever you purchased it. I love the scent of the evergreens and they are handy to have in your car on snowy or icy days to help with traction should you get stuck.

Another reminder to please sign up for your ad in the coming year’s Area Guide. The virtual copy on the Web Site is handy and people are still requesting thousands of hard copies. Your ad is “Live” for at least a full year and is distributed far and wide. Let us know you are interested. Call 802-447-3311 and email us at [email protected] or [email protected] We will go over it and send you the insertion order (prices and specs). Our advertisers appreciate the value. If you have never placed an ad – this would be the time to do it.

Have a great week and enjoy the real holiday spirit.

All the best,
Joann
